2016 Colour Trends

EFSA Baroque

What will be the colour trends for 2016? As usual there are number of key influencers who attempt to persuade what we will like.

Two key players have released their trend forecasts for 2016.

In Europe there is a group of leading companies who belong to EFSA – European Floral & Lifestyle Products Suppliers Association. Through their network of senior executives and working committees EFSA attempts to shape market trends by working with leading Trend Agencies to provide a united front in the delivery of the colour and style of their products. The consumer sees a group of unrelated products all presenting the same colour palettes and themes and next minute a trend is born.

Another key influencer, this time based in the United States is Pantone – best known for its Pantone Matching System [PMS]. Pantone has announced its colour of the year [in fact two colours] as Rose Quartz and Serenity in addition to a series of 10 colours for Spring 2016.

Both of these are of course northern hemisphere seasons so we are out of synch by six months.

In NZ we tend to make up our own mind on these matters taking guidance from both the European and American influences. Being a much smaller market, trends can be a little harder to manifest themselves.
